For example, you cook in the kitchen, and you sleep in the bedroom. Knowing these words is very useful for basic conversations. You can describe your home to friends or understand simple instructions. This vocabulary is fundamental for building your English foundation and communicating clearly about your environment. The Main Rooms in a House

Here are some important rooms you can find in most houses:

  • Living Room: This is often the first room you see. People relax here, watch TV, or talk with family and friends.

    • I sleep in my bedroom.

Houses can also have other spaces:

    • Go up the stairs to the bedroom.
  • Garden: This is an area outside the house, usually with plants, flowers, and grass.
    • The children play in the garden.

西班牙语母语者常犯的错误

  • Using “salón” for living room: In Spanish, “salón” can mean a large room, but in English, the main room for relaxing is the living room. Do not say my salon. Say my living room.
  • Confusing gardenyard: A garden usually has flowers, plants, or vegetables. A yard is a general outdoor area, often with grass. For this lesson, focus on garden.
  • Not using “the” with rooms: Remember to use “the” when talking about a specific room in your house, for example, in the kitchen, not in kitchen.
